Along the way we picked up a map of the city and set out with no particular destination in mind. I picked what I thought was the tube stop that would connect us to the line leading to Big Ben, however, because I was unaware of construction we ended up in the main high dollar shopping area. What a shame! Right? After some window shopping, we hopped a city bus that was headed to Victoria Station which on the map looked relatively close to many main attractions.
Once off the bus, mom and I with coffee in hand found what we thought was Westminster Abbey "that looked a lot smaller than it had in pictures." And that would be because it was Westminster Cathedral, the main Catholic church of the area. Which is not on a lot of tour routes but I would strongly recommend detouring to.

I finally did navigate us to Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, and the London Eye. However, after about three or four hours of walking in what was I would describe as a tsunami in rain form, my mother and I found out that her rain jacket was NOT water proof but merely water resistant. You might be thinking what is the difference--in London rain or what I will be experiencing as a norm in Cork--A LOT!
"Water resistant products resist the entry of water into it to a certain extent. Water proof products are completely resistant to the entry of water."
