Ello Governor!

As of today I will have been in Cork, Ireland, for almost a week. So like normal I am quite behind on what has happened in my life. But to get back on track I will start at the beginning of my international adventure.

Mum and I took off on her first ever international excursion on August 24th, serendipitously on the same day that all my wonderful Converse women were moving in to start another school year. After listening to Pink Floyd's "The Wall", lots of hugs, and my mother getting randomly selected for an extra search we boarded a plane from Charleston to Atlanta. Then against my mother's wishes took many escalators (one of her greatest fears) and then a tram through the airport where we stopped in a horror movie light flickering scene before we boarded our connecting flight from Atlanta to London Heathrow.

And what kind of grand adventure would it be without a late arrival, baggage being stuck on the plane because of a power failure, and stereotypical London rain? Besides all that, mom and I felt very fancy when we were greeted by a gentleman in a tux with our names on a board for our transport.

We stayed at a lovely hotel, Thistle Hyde Park, which was a mere five minute walk from Kensington Palace, two minute walk from the nearest tube station, AND placed us in a room that could totally have been in a Harry Potter film.

Our room was not on the first floor but not on the second floor. We were the only room in between floors and we had an entrance door which led to a hallway and three steps to the bedroom door. Also the bathtub was long enough that 5 foot 7 inches me totally could have laid down with knees under water. Which any tall people know is almost impossible in most tubs.
